Indigenous Australia

National Gallery of Modern Art (New Delhi) is hosting an exhibition of artists belonging to the Indigenous Australian land. Frenchesca Cubilio, the curator of the exhibition ‘Indigenous Australia: Masterworks from the National Gallery of Australia’, mentions that “The Indigenous land of Australia and its culture was made with about 300 different tribal cultures with their languages, beliefs and rituals, art motifs and symbolism, which the British weren’t aware of when they colonized the land. The exhibition displays 102 art works, of which some belong to the indigenous tribal artists as well as contemporary artist who have an ancestral connection with the indigenous cultures and their art narrative of the socio political and cultural issues faced by the Indigenous Identities.
The Exhibition beautifully weaves between the lines of the Indigenous identities , their art and beliefs represented through a visual form.
